We branded the first bunch of Spring Valley cows on Saturday, about 280. And by we, I mean I came and watched, but I also cooked part of lunch so that counts for something. Plus someone had to make sure the kids didn't kill themselves.... their roping practice can get pretty dangerous! Janelle's family came out for breakfast and went to watch. Then Elliott stayed with us and went back to branding for the lunch. He and Clyde took turns roping each other. There were a couple wipeouts, but nothing too serious. Ben was wrestling the calves and Dad was cutting them (castrating them). One guy that works for us was sporting some seriously fashionable chaps, so I had to include that photo too!
